The weekend started with some sad news that Serpent Turkey distributor AytemizHobi was closing its doors, Serdar Aytemiz owner and personal friend has been a great leader for RC here in Turkey and we are all very sad he has had to do this, but he promises to race and to keep organising the races in Turkey for 2015. We are hoping someone will step in and carry on what Seradr has grown here in Turkey for Serpent.
I had great results from round 1 and 2 with TQ’s and Wins in both so I needed to win or come 2nd in round 3 to secure series 1st place overall.
In round 1 I came 2nd and round 3 had issues with car and was so busy I only managed 6th place, so I needed to get back on track and score some points.
On Saturday as per normal I had the RCSkool students to help and race as well as preparing for the SCT and 4WD races for myself so a busy time ahead of me.
SCT: I topped practice, the car was good but brakes were not working electronically, I discovered that either the motor or ESC had a faulty sensor board, there was nothing I could do so I drove around the problem all day.
4WD: I topped practice but needed to settle the rear of the car down after jumps, it was always trying to spin the car around on landing.
SCT: I managed a 1st and 2nd to give me 2nd on the grid, still a problem slowing down at the end of the big straight but manageable.
4WD: I managed to get TQ with 3 x 1st places so very happy.
SCT: I had to secure 1st or 2nd so with 3 heats I managed to get 2nd in all of them to finish 2nd overall for the day, the last final I had a great race with the overall winner of the day Tolga Masraf, we had some great tussles with him just pipping me to the finish line, it was a great race.
4WD: Starting with TQ I was ready for some racing, first round I won and one more lap than the field so happy, I had a bad 2nd and 3rd round with too many driver errors so I ended up 2nd place overall, still some good points and it will all be decided in the last round. Unfortunately I will be out of contention for the win but possibly 2nd or 3rd so March 7th here we come.
Overall I was happy with the day, I can now relax about the SCT and concentrate on the 4WD next round.
I would like to thank all my sponsors for their help and support.
